Popis: | A new cobalt phosphate Cs{sub 2}Co{sub 3}(HPO{sub 4})(PO{sub 4}){sub 2}{center_dot} H{sub 2}O 1, has been synthesized by hydrothermal reactions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, and magnetic techniques. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21 with a=10.4711(6) {angstrom}, b=5.1129(3) {angstrom}, c=13.5584(8) {angstrom}, b=109.893(1){degree}, V=682.57 {angstrom}{sup 3}, Z=2. Refinement gave R{sub 1}=0.0226, wR{sub 2}=0.0583 for 2611 unique observed reflections (I>2s(I)). The cobalt and phosphorus atoms in 1 are tetrahedrally coordinated by oxygen atoms with Co to P ratio of 1. The framework structure of 1 is built up by sharing corners of [Co(PO{sub 4})]{sub 2} layers and [Co(HPO{sub 4})] double zigzag chains, which contains infinite 1-D tunnels, with 16-membered ring channels housing caesium cations and water molecules. Magnetic susceptibility measurements showed that 1 has a canted antiferromagnetic inter action at a transition temperature of about 10 K. |
