This chapter focuses on the evolution of transport planning in Russia during the 20th century. Since transport planning is a socio-economic practice, it is not surprising that it has been drastically influenced by the ideologies that succeeded each other in Russia during the period. On the other hand, the evolution of transport planning also took place due to technical progress and change of the traditional paradigm of urban mobility. From this point of view, this chapter will be of interest not only for specialists in transportation studies, but also for researchers in the field of interconnection of humanitarian and technical sciences. In addition, the chapter covers and evaluates formal documents of transport planning adopted in Russia, as well as the history of the use of transport models. |
