Popis: While there have been many astounding demonstrations in 2D photonic crystals, most photonic crystals are passive without means of external control. Providing ondemand tunability to the photonic crystals would expand existing application areas and may enable new applications. Guided-mode resonance (GMR) is diffraction grating which shows sharp reflectance/transmittance response on narrow specific wavelength of the incident light. Flexible GMR devices are great vehicles to achieve high resolution high sensitivity strain sensor. This paper reviews thermally and mechanically tunable 2D photonic crystals and flexible GMR strain sensors.
