The adapto-electroretinography (AERG) of the typical achromate in yellow monochromatic light can be compared with the normal subject's AERG in blue light; the yellow light, which should ordinarily excite both the photopic and scotopic systems, can as the blue light, work only on the scotopic system, alone being normofunctional. Consequently, an electroretinographic classification of dyschromatopsias has been proposed, in which the AERG is disturbed only in cases of changes either in the optical transmission or in the retinal reception; on the contrary, the AERG remains normal in presence of damages either to the nervous transmission or to the cortical integration. |
