Popis: | A major responsibility of systems designers and EDP auditors is to design and evaluate controls that increase the reliability of an information system. Fulfilling this responsibility is made more difficult by the rapid advances in computer technology and the new applications that result. The problem with adapting to these changes is absence of an explicit theory of control structure. This research is concerned with providing such a theory. Specifically, it addresses the question: "What elements make up an EDP control and how are these elements related?" The test of the theory recognizes that expert auditors and designers, while lacking an explicit theory of control structure, have subconsciously stored templates derived from their experience. |
