Popis:	The chemistry (deuteriation, halogenation, diazo-coupling, and reaction with nucleophiles) and spectra of 2-oxo-and 2-thioxo-1,2-dihydropyrimidinium salts are compared with those of 2,2-dialkyl-1,2-dihydropyrimidinium and 2,3-dihydro-1,4-diazepinium salts, thereby demonstrating the effect of an adjacent oxo- or thioxo-group on the properties of a 1,5-diazapentadienium system.
