This paper presents the topology selection of the high-speed synchronous electrical machines for prospective unmanned aerial vehicles. The main novelty is the use of the amorphous magnetic materials as a stator core material, which allows achieving an efficiency over 96 %. A multidisciplinary design algorithm was proposed, and several topologies were calculated. The rotor dynamics analysis and the mechanical rotor strength calculations were performed. The optimized topology were selected by using genetic algorithms. In the result, the eddy-current losses in permanent magnets were reduced by 300 % compared with the initial variant. A cooling system was proposed, and thermal calculations were made. To confirm all theoretical conclusions, a full-sized 5-kW 60,000rpm experimental sample with a power-to-mass ratio of 5 kW/kg and an efficiency of 96.4 % was created. It was found that the use of amorphous magnetic materials allows the loss reduction in the stator magnetic core by 400-600 %. |
