Popis:	Several approaches to the automation of service processes for industrial equipment have been used at GE. Recent research approaches to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of such processes, as they relate to customer economics and service quality requirements, are surveyed in this paper. Selected examples in the areas of power distribution equipment and large motor drives are provided.
