Recombination of iodine atoms in an unsteady expansion

Popis: Recombination of iodine atoms generated by shock heating I 2 in Ar is studied in an unsteady expansion. The three-body recombination rate coefficient has been measured as 3 × 10 15 ( T /298) −1.56 cm 6 mol −2 s −1 between 500 and 1450 K. Coupling of vibrational and chemical relaxation is found to occur in the expansion.
