Popis: | Tetranycopsis horridus (Canestrini and Fanzago) (Acari: Tetranychidae) infests hazelnut leaves and causes conspicuous white or yellowish feeding spots throughout the forests of hazel in Ardabil region, Iran. Information on this mite in all parts of the world is scarce. In this study, we determined the survivorship and life history parameters of T. horridus on hazelnut leaves under laboratory conditions at 15°C, 20°C and 25°C, at 60% relative humidity and in a photoperiod of 16:8 hours (light:dark). The threshold temperature for development and the degree days for this mite were found to be 5.9°C and 811.1, respectively. Maximum fecundity was recorded at 25°C with 4.4 eggs per female. At 25°C, females laid a mean of 8.25 eggs during a mean oviposition period of 15.8 days. The intrinsic rates of natural increase (r m) were 0.019, 0.026 and 0.031 individuals per mite per day at 15°C, 20°C and 25°C, respectively. These facts might be helpful to improve production in hazelnut fields. |
