Analysis of Power Losses in STATCOMs through the Application of IEC Standards

Popis:	Nowadays, STATCOMs are the most used reactive power compensation systems. One of their issues consists on the high power losses, mainly caused by the magnetic interface, power transformers and valves. Their evaluation is a no-easy task and has been analyzed by many researchers. This paper presents the application of the well-known IEC standards to two different STATCOMs application. The results in terms of power losses and efficiency are presented and discussed.
