Design peculiarities of bearing units of large electric machines

Popis:	Several measures with the purpose of increasing the serviceability and reliability of bearing units of large electric machines have been proposed in the paper based on an examination of bearing-unit failure. Bearing-shaft fitting has been optimized, increased clearance bearings have been used, and a calculation method for bearings taking into account the clearance (the contact angle) has been applied. Design modifications to the bearing unit with the purpose of decreasing the bearing temperature and improving machine vibration characteristics have been carried out.
