Effect of Annealing Time on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of the AlCrFeNi2Ti0.5 High Entropy Alloys

Popis: As-cast AlCrFeNi2Ti0.5 high entropy alloy was annealed at 600 °C and 800 °C for 6 h, 12 h and 24 h, respectively. The effect of annealing time on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated intensively. The as-cast sample showed a fine and homogeneous microstructure, and owned an excellent ductility of 16.3%. While the 600 °C, 12 h annealed sample showed the highest compressive strength of 2658 MPa and yield strength of 2046 MPa. The mechanical properties of the samples after 800 °C annealed for 12 h and 24 h deteriorated obviously. High annealing temperature promotes the growth of the crystal grains, and the new generated FeCr-type intermetallic phase leads to the embrittlement of the alloy.
