Pseudomonas syringae strains express a hrp-encoded type III protein secretion system (TTSS) during pathogenesis that injects effector proteins into the cytoplasm of host cells. A complex regulatory system controlling hrp regulon expression has recently been characterised that involves positive and negative regulatory factors. The interaction of these regulatory factors and their roles are discussed. Several genetic screens for effectors that employ components of the regulatory system are presented. |
