Anatomical data fusion for quantitative reconstruction in cardiac tomoscintigraphy using active contours of the organs of the thorax

Popis: The paper presents a method involving fusion of anatomical data in the reconstruction applied to gated myocardial single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Anatomical data is introduced by using an active spline model of the thorax organs. The pixels of reconstruction are adapted to the shape of the organs. Reconstruction consists in finding an estimate of the emission activity and in adjusting the active model to the real one. Reconstruction results show that the accuracy of the scintigraphic image is improved. We apply this method to reconstruction of the cardiac activity.
