Popis: | This report presents the results of two interrelated needs assessment studies of the chronically mentally ill. The first examines the differential concentration of CMI persons in distinct areas of Colorado by sampling the Social Security Administration's Disability Program data. The results indicate that CMI are unevenly distributed with a disproportionate concentration in the core urban area of Denver. This pattern probably reflects the availability of inexpensive housing and services as well as Denver's role as an urban crossroads. The second study assesses the severity of mental illness of the CMI patients served by the mental health center in that core urban area. Core urban clients are contrasted with a national sample. The results indicate that these core urban clients are severely disturbed. The implication of these findings for state and local planning are discussed. |
