Popis: It is well known that chloroplasts contain DNA and major components of the transcription and translation system each of which differs from the corresponding component of the rest of the cytoplasm or the nucleus. This is particularly characteristic of chloroplast ribosomes which are significantly dissimilar to cytoplasmic ribosomes of eukaryotes and are similar to ribosomes of prokaryotes. The components of the pre-ribosomal stage of protein synthesis (tRNA and aminoacyl-tRNA-synthetase) and the mechanism of the initiation of the protein synthesis are not identical to cytoplasmic components either.
