Disgust is an affective part of the behavioral immune system (BIS) which plays a role in pathogen avoidance. According to Compensatory Prophylaxic Hypothesis, BIS is expected to be functionally flexible and various factors can affect disgust sensitivity, including the perceived harshness of the environment. Such example of a harsh situation is first aid where disgust may reduce the willingness to provide first aid or significantly slow the performance itself, even eliminate it. The aim of the project is to test the effect completing a first aid course on the perceived disgust sensitivity and the association between willingness to provide first aid and disgust sensitivity. |
