A Solvent for Liquid-Phase Layer Growth on BaF2 Substrates

Popis: Lead diiodide has been proposed as a solvent for liquid-phase growth of PbTe layers on BaF2 substrates. The contact with pre-eutectic (PbI2-PbTe) solutions has resulted in deposition of PbI2 islands of spherical cupola shape. The relatively small contact angle (16–25) indicates heterogeneous nucleation. At certain experimental conditions dense layers of PbI2 have also been prepared. This crystallization is an indirect evidence for good wettability of the BaF2 substrate. [Russian Text Ignored].
