Popis: | The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of station length on the reliability and validity of a test for interviewing and counseling skills. Fifty Health Sciences students were randomly assigned to one of three conditions: four 5‐min interviews, four 10‐min interviews, and four 20‐min interviews. Generalizability analyses showed that after standardizing for time, the highest generalizability was obtained with 5‐ and 10‐min stations. The lowest generalizabilty was found with 20‐min stations. Diference between persons, or true score variance, tended to decrease in 20‐min stations. Interrater reliabilities in this study were rather low, and were not influenced by station length. Validity analyses revealed that students tend to do “more of the same”; in longer stations. The quality of the problem analyses was higher in 20‐min than in 10‐min interviews, but no differences were found between 5‐min and 10‐min interviews. We conclude that 10‐min stations are the optimal choice for assessing interview... |
