Popis: | This article attempts to reconstruct the changes in the image of the goalkeeper in Soviet and post-Soviet culture. The following aspects of the topic are explored: the historical and political reasons for the special role of the goalkeeper in the sports hierarchy; the correlation of cultural pragmatism of the representation of sports in the arts and actual sportive practices; the specific features of the Soviet sports comedy; the militaristic connotations of the dramaturgy of sports; and the transformation of the goalkeeper theme in the context of the cyclical changes between ‘Culture One’ and ‘Culture Two’ (according to Vladimir Paperny). The starting point of the analysis is the canonical image of ‘the dry goalkeeper’ Anton Kandidov from Semen Timoshenko’s film The Goalkeeper (Vratar', 1936) and Lev Kassil’s novel The Goalkeeper of the Republic (1939). |
