In modern combustion engines, robust timing chain drives are used more and more as timing element. This article describes the testing possibilities for the investigation of timing chain drives and its components that are located at the University of Kaiserslautern, represented by the institutes for combustion engines and for machine elements, gears and transmissions. By a double track approach of experimental and parallel simulation investigations of components and entire system an improved forecast feasibility of the dynamic behaviour of timing chain drives is achieved. |
