A Game Designers' Guide for Creating Learning Games for Mathematics

Popis: According to several researchers, games can be used successfully for learning mathematics. However, one of the major issues preventing games from being widely available is the difficulty in designing good educational games. In this paper, the authors address this problem by presenting a game designer's guide which incorporates suitable pedagogy for technology in the creation of mathematics learning games. This guide is based on a framework for integrating pedagogy with technology when developing content for learning mathematics. Several topics were chosen to be used with the guide when designing learning games. Some examples of using the guide are presented. The guide is used to improve the process of creating mathematics learning games by making the process of incorporating necessary pedagogy into the game easier.
