Popis: Due to track overlapping, visual counting and automatic counting are limited to low track densities. Conventional reading techniques cannot be used for high dose measurement. An attempt has been made to develop a track density determination method suitable for high neutron dose irradiation (ex : criticality accident dosimetry). We have found that the measurement of the optical transmission of a monochromatic light through CR39 detector is a possible method. Different kinds of CR39 (produced in Bristol, Italy, or by American Acrylics) were studied. They were irradiated in the field of the SILENE reactor and then chemically etched. The results obtained show that : • - it is possible to perform measurements from about 0.2 Gy to 100 Gy, • - a linear relation between the optical density and neutron kerma can be obtained by suitably adjusting chemical etching conditions.
