Risk analysis of non-melanoma skin cancer incidence in arsenic exposed population

Popis: Publisher Summary Ecological and human health aspects, including neurotoxicity and immuno-toxicity phenomena encountered in humans exposed in environmental and occupational settings of the excessive contamination of the environment by arsenic (As) because of burning the local coal of high-As content, were described in detail in the vicinity of power plant in Prievidza district, Central Slovakia. A meta-analysis of the database is being performed on the malignant tumors obtained by the population-based epidemiological study within EXPASCAN, INCOCOPERNICUS project. Future analysis will include all types of malignancies and lung carcinoma that has already been associated with As exposure, along with exposure assessment because of cigarette smoking. The main objective is to obtain as precise as possible As exposure in skin basalioma cases, especially in occupationally exposed ones, in collaboration with the Slovak National Cancer Registry database.
