Popis:	The way in which 9 and 12-year-old boys and girls set about linking objects in their environment was investigated by observing how they grouped and asked questions about pictorial representations of features from their environment. They showed an emphasis upon functional links similar to that found in 6-year-olds, but important differences between these age groups were discovered. The findings suggest that curriculum materials need to take account of these age-related variations in children’s structuring of environmental features.
