Popis: | Summary We carried out a descriptive study, to evaluate our first results with surgical hysteroscopy in a District Hospital. It is based on a retrospective study of 171 patients treated using hysteroscopy from 1997-2000. Surgical indications for hysteroscopy were principally endometrial polyps (68.42%), submucous myomas (14.61%), and metrorrhagia (16.95%) Surgical hysteroscopy was carried out using a gyna-ecological resectoscope, and we had only three major complications and six minor complications which were subperitoneal perforations. The three major complications were 2 uterine perforations, one a lineal perforation in a type II myoma, and the other in an endo-metrial adenocarcinoma. The other complication was associated with excessive absorption of the distending medium (glycine) We think that surgical hysteroscopy is effective and safe, provided its indications and contra-indications are observed |
