Popis: A combined numerical and analytical model is developed for predicting the thermoelastoplastic stress distribution in a hollow cylinder with temperature dependent properties. To model the inelastic behaviour, Jiang's constitutive equations have been extended to incorporate the temperature dependency of the material. The extension of Jiang's constitutive equation is applied to a hollow cylinder with temperature dependent properties subjected to rapid heating from the inside. To ensure the accuracy of the new technique, Mendelson's method of successive elastic solution, an established method for solving plasticity problems, is also used to solve the problem. The results obtained using both techniques are compared and a reasonable agreement is reached. The effect of the temperature dependency of the material on the results is investigated. The conclusion is reached that temperature dependency of a material is an important factor in the accuracy of predicted thermoelastoplastic stresses.
