We determine the temperature field and thermal stresses induced in the elastic half space by a single pulse of laser radiation. It is assumed that the thermal energy obeys the Gaussian distribution. By using the piecewise-constant or piecewise-linear approximations with respect to time, we represent the solution of the problem in the form of a sum of Hankel integrals. The time profile of the intensity of radiation recorded in the process of treatment of materials with Nd: YAG lasers is studied in detail. The accumulated results are compared with the relevant data for a laser operating in the mode of continuous generation. |
