Popis: Publisher Summary The properties of fission γ-radiation are both unusual and highly interesting. The total energy of the radiation and the multiplicity are higher than expected. This chapter describes and discusses experiments dealing with the γ-radiation emitted from fission fragments after neutron emission but before β-decay. This chapter explains that the study of the time distribution makes it possible to find a collimator setting, such that the collimator accepts most of the radiation from one of the fragments but nothing from the other fragment. The necessity of using a thin crystal makes the correction for the response function of the spectrometer somewhat uncertain. The properties of the radiation do not depend only on the energy and spin of the initial state but also on the details of the wave-function. An interesting feature of the γ-radiation is that it gives information about regions in the periodic table that normally are not accessible for investigation.
