Popis: | Decolorization of eight leather dyes by laccase from a novel fungal strain of Peroneutypa scoparia is investigated for the first time. The fermentation and enzyme production was completed in 84 h. The laccase activity was maximum at pH 6.0 and temperature 40 °C. The laccase decolorized the dyes up to a maximum 75% in 6 h. The degradation of Acid Red 97 to Naphthalene 1,2-dione and 3-(2-hydroxy-1-naphthylazo) benzenesulfonic acid through oxidation catalysed by laccase were analysed by 1H NMR and LC/MS. The rate of decolorization was further improved to 93% using mediators. FTIR analysis confirmed the degradation of other dyes by the P. scoparia laccase. The enzyme showed potential for translation to a price-competitive and viable product as well as a clean and sustainable green process for dye decolorization. |
