Techniques for producing organoids have advanced rapidly over the last few years, and methods are now available to make primitive organoids, at least, to represent a large variety of many organs and tissues. Applying this technology to practical problems will depend on our overcoming three main technical challenges: the ability to make organoids reliably and in large numbers; to make organoids more mature; and to make organoids larger and more realistic. It may also depend on intelligent development of an effective ethico-legal framework. |
