Popis: | It has been demonstrated that plasma spraying is a useful method for the production of oxide dispersion-strengthened aluminum. The good particle-to-particle bonding produced by spraying allows lower forming temperatures to be used, and, consequently, more energy of deformation may be stored. The sprayed and pressed material displays strength similar to, if not higher than, SAP of comparable low oxide content and exhibits a high-temperature resistance to recrystallization. Since high oxide contents have been achieved in a spraying operation,7 it should be possible to eliminate milling of the starting powder, which is currently a necessary step in the production of high-strength SAP. |
