Popis: The few scanty data that so far exist on the effects of selective logging on stand structure, residual stands, future yield, soil, climate and hydrological cycle, nutrient budget, species diversity of fauna and flora indicate a wide spectrum of impacts that ranges from almost complete annihilation of ecological forest functions to hardly noticeable interventions. The paper based on field data and hypothesis allows the conclusion that selective logging only under special conditions can be regarded as a sustainable form of land use.
