Popis: | The new strain of Plum pox virus (PPV), CR, was recently discovered on sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) in geographically distant Saratov/Samara and Moscow regions of European Russia. The full genomes of five Moscow PPV-CR isolates were sequenced using the 454 platform. In a phylogenetic analysis, isolates of the two geographic groups clustered separately within the CR branch. PPV-CR was transmitted to non-cherry hosts by in vitro grafting and induced systemic, generally symptomless infection in P. cerasifera and P. domestica. Seeds and black cherry aphid Myzus cerasi did not transmit the Moscow PPV-CR isolates. |
