Popis: | In occupational therapy, a fundamental belief is that a healthy lifestyle reflects the adapted balance between work, play/leisure, self-care and rest activities, which promotes occupational function. Adolph Meyer (1922) stated that our existence is structured through occupation. The occupational balance may be disrupted when an individual experiences a mental health problem. Mental health problems vary in terms of diagnosis, but more importantly, they vary in the amount of occupational dysfunction. In this study, the type of environmental support needed to function with a mental health problem is an indicator of differences in abilities to perform daily activity patterns. This study describes this balance of occupations as the temporal adaptation between two comparison groups.
