Vibration of a Beam and a Moving Load with Sprung and Unsprung Masses

Popis: This paper deals with the vibration of a simple beam under the action of a moving load, the two masses of which are connected with a linear spring. It can be shown that the vibration of this system consists of two modes, each of which has a time-dependent natural frequency analytically. Using the above analytical result, the lateral vibration of the beam and the vertical oscillation of the sprung mass are shown for some different ratios between the natural frequencies of the moving load and the beam. Furthermore the predicted dynamic behaviors of the beam and the moving load are confirmed experimentally.
