The enzymic preparation of 1,5-anhydro- d -glucitol 6-phosphate and its crystallization as the dicyclohexylamine salt are described. Tests with this compound on enzymes concerned with transformations of glucose 6-phosphate show that it is without influence on glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, that it has a variable influence on phosphoglucomutase, and that, at high concentrations, it inhibits phosphoglucose isomerase to a moderate degree. Tests on heart muscle homogenates show complete inhibition of glucose oxidation but no inhibition of glucose 6-phosphate oxidation by this compound. |
