Popis: Summary form only given. Results of experimental research of a diffuse discharge developing in inter-electrode gaps of spike-plane type in the air of an atmospheric pressure under effect of voltage pulses of an amplitude up to 250 kV and rise front of ~10 ns are presented in the paper. A discharge current is up to 650 A. A value of the inter-electrode gap of 6...12 cm and a shape of the cathode spike were varied. At that the radius of the spike was changed from 3 cm up to 2.4 mum. It was established that the luminescence structure of the studied discharge could be of different shapes from multichannel to single-channel (volumetric). Realization of one or another discharge luminescence shape at constant gap geometry has a probabilistic nature. Probability of observation of a specific luminescence shape non-monotonous ly depends on the radius of the cathode spike. Discharge parameters that are responsible for the luminescence structure formation were revealed. It is shown that formation of the discharge structure takes place before bridging stage of the discharge gap at breakdown of the cathode plasma shell.
