Popis: Absorption spectra obtained at high temperatures must be corrected for emission due to the furnace, sample, and sample container. Above 600°C, corrections will become appreciable at wavelengths greater than about one micron unless the spectrophotometer is designed to ignore an emission signal. Even then, induced emission requires a correction at higher temperatures and longer wavelengths. Such corrections are outlined in this paper. Attendant problems to differential spectrophotometry at high temperatures are also discussed. Experimental results are included for confirmation of the corrective method.
