New imaging approaches for the seismic shadow zones of the South Caspian Sea

Popis: A n e w a p p r o a c h f o r i m a g i n g a l o w amplitude zone of the South Caspian Sea has b e e n c o n d u c t e d . U s i n g o f f s e t d o m a i n amplitu de compensa t ion a n d p r e s t a c k tomographic invers ion , the qua l i ty o f the migrated image was significantly improved. We es t ima ted pore and f rac tu re p ressures b a s e d o n t h e t o m o g r a p h i c i n v e r s i o n velocities. Results show the pressure ranges f rom hydros ta t i c to medium pressure . We also conduc ted v i sco-acous t ic model ing to i n v e s t i g a t e t h e n a t u r e o f s e i s m i c e n e r g y attenuation. Comparing the synthetic shot records with field data, indicates three low Q z o n e s ( v a l u e s l e s s t h a n 5 0 ) a t s h a l l o w dep th . At g rea te r dep ths , Q va lues r each 175 .
