Popis: | We consider an optical resonator containing a single mode fiber. It is driven in synchronism with its round trip time by a train of picosecond laser pulses. Due to the fiber nonlinearity and repetitive interference, complex substructure in the pulse is generated. Through variation of dispersion in the resonator, we can tune from purely temporal chaos to spatio-temporal chaos, or turbulence. Numerical simulations are compared with experimental results. Intrapulse correlations provide a measure of the degree of complexity. |
