Popis: | Summary 1.ACTH, cortisone (CA) or desoxycorticosterone (DCA) had no beneficial effect upon the extent or severity of the ulcers seen in the forestomach of the pylorus-ligated rat. 2.DCA and, to a lesser extent, CA produced small increases in gastric secretion in pylorus-ligated rats with intact adrenals. 3.Adrenalectomy profoundly lowered the volume of gastric secretion and almost completely prevented ulceration of the forestomach in pylorus-ligated rats. 4.The administration of normal saline, normal glucose solution, ACE, CA, and DCA partially restored the volume of gastric juice in adrenalectomized pylorus-ligated rats. 5.Partial restoration, with adequate therapy, of the normal rate of gastric secretion after adrenalectomy had as its corollary that increasing amounts of forestomach ulcerations were present. |
