Popis: Professor DeWitt of the Russian and East European Institute, Indiana University, examines the role of the Russian scientist in terms of the organization of scientific activity and the social milieu in which he operates. He points out why Soviet science is effective even though it exists in a socially restrictive atmosphere and why, despite his prestige, the Soviet scientist does not directly affect Russian policy.
