THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HORIZONTAL VIOLENCE AMONG STAFF NURSES AT PORT SAID GENERAL HOSPITALS

Popis: Background:violence is considered one of the main challenges in nursing profession and all health sector organizations and might hinder them achieving such health work environment. Aim: the present study aimed to assess the relationship between work environment and horizontal violence among staff nurses at Port-Said general hospitals. Subjects and Method:Design:A descriptive correlational research design was used. Setting: port-said general hospital, El-Zhour general hospital and port-fouad general hospital. Subjects: A sample of 300 staff nurses working in above mentioned settings. Tools: Data were collected using two tools: Revised Nurse Work Index and Nursing Horizontal Violence Scale. Results:The study revealed that about three quarters 74.7% of nurses perceived their practice environment as average favorable environment, Slightly less than half of the sample reported that never exposure to horizontal violence. Conclusion:There was positive statistically significant correlation between horizontal violence and work environment and its subscales except working relationships between nurses and doctors' subscale. Recommendations: Establishing and enforcing implementrestricted ethical behaviors policies and procedures are very crucial to maintain zero tolerance environments related to horizontal violence.
