Popis: The initial offshore application of cement pulsation to prevent annular flow/pressure after cementing has been successfully performed in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM). This paper describes the methodology and cementing results achieved following application of the cement pulsation technology in multiple shallow offshore GoM casing strings. The compressible volume of the cement column is recorded during the pulsation operation, and this data can provide for surface monitoring of the downhole cement setting process. An overview of the equipment and cement pulsation pre-job design considerations are also included in this paper.
