Popis: | Herein, we report for the first time CoII bis(terpyridine) complexes as instant ‘naked eye’ colorimetric detectors of cyanide (CN−) in micromolar concentrations in polar solvents, including water, following the formation of the corresponding CoIII tricyanide complex. The new CoIII tricyanide complex [CoIII(4-pyridyl-terpyridine)(CN)3] is characterized by single crystal XRD diffraction. The quanitative detection of cyanide is monitored by UV–vis spectroscopic method and the selectivety of CoII bis(terpyridine) complexes to the cyanide anion is shown via addition of other anions. |
