Popis: PET images averaged across nine humans and fMRI scans from single subjects showed activation of comparable regions in parietal cortex following stimulation of fingerpads with embossed dot and grating surfaces. Human magnitude estimates of roughness to an extended range of similar texture patterns matched linear, inverted U and plateau neural response functions to rubbing the same surfaces in monkey Sl cortex.
