Popis: | The functional investigation of patients with locomotive disorders requires a quantitative evaluation of their gait. Usually, only walking activities taking place outdoors are taken into account. Indoor walking which may represent the patient’s major ambulatory activity is generally neglected. A study including a population of 73 subjects (age: 20–85 years) carrying a pedometer has shown a relation between the age of the subject and his indoor walking activities, with a variation by a factor of 5 between 20 and 85 years of age. On the basis of this relation, an indoor ambulation index may be determined acording to the subjects’ age, thus providing a quantitative evaluation of their gait while taking into account all their activities, both indoors and outdoors. |
