Popis: The use of solid fuel in the production of iron-ore pellets is considered. The combustion of a water-coal suspension with different coal/water ratios is calculated for the OK-306 roasting machine at OAO Severnyi GOK. It is found that, when the coal/gas ratio in the suspension is >1.5, the exhaust gas and the gas formed in natural-gas combustion are similar in terms of moisture content. In other words, they may be used as fuel for the drying zone. If calculation of the combustion of a water-coal suspension is included in the design of new or modernized thermal systems, solid fuel may be used in ore-pellet production.
